Benefits of Chiropractic Care for Kids

Today, more than ever, parents seek alternative health solutions for their children.

Why Chiropractic?

There is an important relationship between the spine and the nervous system. Just as the primary purpose of the skull is to protect the brain, the spines purpose is to protect the delicate brain stem and spinal cord. Spinal dysfunction can occur as early as birth from some so called “natural” birthing procedures such as forceps delivery and/or Caesarean section. Trauma during birth can cause the spine to “jam” out of place which can result in irritation to the nerves in and around the mis aligned segment. Many newborn health issues, such as colic, sleep disturbances, allergies and breathing problems can be caused by stress on the nervous system.

As children grow and develop, they encounter a variety of physical stressors. From falling off a swing to jumping out of a tree, kids participate in activities that cause spinal misalignments.

Interference to the nervous system during this pre adolescent age can cause symptoms such as ear infections, asthma, allergies and headaches.

It is important to note that chiropractors don’t treat the above mentioned conditions. A chiropractor is trained to detect subluxation (misalignment) in the spine. Restoring proper alignment and removing subluxation improves nerve transmission which allows the body to work optimally. These conditions improve as a result of balancing the body and optimizing the function of the nervous system.

The benefits of chiropractic care for children are undeniable. Therefore, many parents will choose ongoing adjustments for their children even after the symptoms have been relieved.

There is now scientific evidence that shows degenerative diseases such as osteoporosis and osteoarthritis can be prevented by maintaining proper spinal alignment.

As these children grow up they are more likely to embody a proactive lifestyle that encourages good lifelong health habits.
